Overview

With its interesting mix of high priority and circumstantial damage, Akranox can trap and maim tems that play recklessly around it. Otherwise, it can shine when an enemy team is cornered into an Akranox win condition.

Akranox has a fantastic type combination - Toxic and Earth are a difficult combination to resist and cover many of each other's weaknesses, and the scorpion has four resistances (five, essentially, if you choose Book Lungs) and only two weaknesses, neither of which can resist Toxic on their own. As of patch 0.9.3, Akranox gained access to Soil Steam, so it finally has two STAB attacks with 80 base power or more, one for each type. Cobweb has great synergy with Sting, letting Akranox set up Venom spread on trapped targets, or simply use Slingshot to push Toxin Shower and Intimidation to higher speeds than the opponent.

This all sounds great, but sadly, Akranox has a very odd stat distribution - most stats need to be slightly above 80 to be considered an asset to the tem except in specific cases (Ukama only has 76 SPATK, for instance, but Hydrologist bridges the gap) but Akranox has not a single stat over 71. As well, none of Akra's toxic attacks quite fit the bill the way Soil Steam does - Venom Spread is inconsistent, Sting deals little damage (and uses a different attacking stat than Akra's other moves), and Rotten Goo is very slow without synergy. Akranox is decently bulky with 71/64/64 stats, but not particularly remarkable.

All that said, Akranox performs well next to either of the two Plethoric-trait using Water Cannoners, Ukama and Wiplump. Their speeds can enable a turn 1 barrage of Water Cannon into Venom Spread, and if the Vspread lands, it will deal impressive damage.
